User & Device option is FortiGate dashboard
In the FortiGate dashboard, you will find user and device options that allow you to manage and configure user-based and device-based settings. These options include:
User Authentication: FortiGate supports various methods of user authentication, such as local user accounts, Active Directory integration, LDAP authentication, RADIUS, and TACACS+. You can configure authentication settings, define authentication servers, and set up authentication policies.
User Groups: You can create user groups in the dashboard to logically group users based on common characteristics or requirements. User groups can be used in firewall policies and access control rules to simplify rule management and provide granular control over network access.
Single Sign-On (SSO): FortiGate offers Single Sign-On functionality, allowing users to authenticate once and access multiple resources or applications without the need for repeated logins. You can configure SSO settings and integrate FortiGate with SSO solutions such as Active Directory or SAML.
Guest Services: FortiGate provides guest access features, allowing you to create and manage guest user accounts with limited access privileges. You can define guest access policies, set up captive portal authentication, and control guest user sessions.
Endpoint Control: FortiGate allows you to enforce endpoint control policies to ensure that devices connecting to the network comply with security requirements. You can configure policies to check devices for antivirus software, operating system patches, and other security measures before granting network access.
User and Device Identity: FortiGate can identify users and devices on the network using various methods, such as MAC address, IP address, or user credentials. This information can be used in firewall policies and other security features to provide more granular access control and visibility.
User and Device Monitoring: The dashboard provides monitoring capabilities to view user activity, device information, and session details. You can monitor user logins, track device connections, and analyze network traffic based on user or device attributes.
These user and device options in the FortiGate dashboard allow you to manage user authentication, access control, guest access, and endpoint security. They enhance network security by providing visibility and control over user activities, enforcing authentication policies, and ensuring compliance with security requirements.
